滅伉Vlog篇撞 Initiative Wins Category Grand Prize at the Mitsubishi Memorial Foundation for Educational Excellence's Mirai Ikusei Award 2026

Update: September 29, 2026

An educational initiative conducted by the University with support from the Mitsubishi Memorial Foundation for Educational Excellence has received the Category Grand Prize at the Mirai Ikusei Award 2026. The award recognizes the most outstanding initiative in Category 4 (Next-Generation Talent Development Programs at Universities and Other Institutions) among programs newly selected for funding in fiscal 2025, following deliberations by the selection committee. An award ceremony and presentations of program outcomes were held at JP TOWER Hall & Conference (Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo) on September 26, 2026. Professor Rekishu Yamazaki (Physics major), who plays a leading role in the program, attended the event.

Overview of the Grant-Supported Program

The initiative being implemented by the University with support from the Foundation is a hands-on program at the heart of its liberal arts education, emphasizing multidisciplinary perspectives and dialogue across academic boundaries. Faculty members from different disciplines collaborate to teach classes on a single theme through a variety of approaches, with the aim of helping students to develop the ability to examine issues from multiple perspectives and devise solutions. Another distinctive feature of the program is that participating university students serve as facilitators in experiential liberal arts programs for high school students. By putting what they have learned in the classroom into practice, students are able to deepen their understanding and translate that learning into further personal growth.

Award Ceremony and Presentation

At the award ceremony, Professor Yamazaki gave a presentation introducing the University's program, its achievements to date, and its future prospects. During the Q&A and discussion that followed, participants offered a wide range of feedback, including practical questions such as, "What kind of framework is needed to make classes organized around a single theme work effectively when faculty members from different disciplines are involved?" Others commented that "classes in which different areas of expertise intersect seem highly engaging and enjoyable for both students and faculty." Encouraged by this recognition, the University will continue to demonstrate the potential of liberal arts education to society while working earnestly to nurture individuals who will shape the future.
